Shoreline Dynamics and Beach Erosion

Coasts are highly dynamic and geomorphologic complex systems that evolve under the increasing pressure of climate change anthropogenic activities, having direct or indirect impacts on coastal environment. Among major adverse effects, erosion represents one most pressing global issues, especially in flat low-lying areas appear to be particularly susceptible beach related shoreline retreat. This Special Issue collects a set twelve papers “Shoreline Dynamics Beach Erosion”. Of course, this collection does not cover all broad number topics concerning dynamics spatial-temporal evolution shorelines systems, but, our opinion, they contribute growing body knowledge. Coastal variable complexity located different geographic climatic contexts investigated from various points view by using multi- interdisciplinary approaches, as well new experimental ones. The covered concern morphodynamics hydrodynamics driving factors erosion, use models/indexes study vulnerability mitigation human/natural pressures affecting ecosystems.
